SOS Santé, the Moroccan innovation in accident detection and medical assistance automation, won the continent’s premier launch pad for emerging technologies, DEMO Africa 2017 and earned for its CEO Khalid Machchate, the title of Africa Lion 2017, and will participate in Startup Grind Global conference on 12-14th February in Silicon Valley, as well as an extensive 8 days [email protected] innovation Silicon Valley tour, to represent Morocco, and the African startup scene.
“SOS Sante is an extremely affordable, freely implementable device on cars no matter their age or model, that detects accidents, and sends passengers Location, Medical Record, Blood Type and Accident Assessment Reports directly to the closest emergency center and to Insurance Companies, using the most basic GSM technology for an ensured reach even in the less signal covered areas.” Explains CEO Khalid Machchate.
To get to this stage, SOS Santé participated and won the national finals, and regionals against other winners from North Africa, to be the only representative of North Africa in DEMO Africa conference and Pan African finals in Johannesburg, 23-24 November 2017.
The finalists were picked from a record 956 digital startups from 28 African countries that applied to launch at the event. Out of the 30, South Africa is represented by eight startups, Nigeria seven, Kenya six while both Ghana and Zimbabwe has two representatives. Cameroun, Uganda, Morocco, Tanzania and Senegal have each an entry. Four of the companies were picked through Innovation Tours, one of which was SOS Santé.
The DEMO Africa 2017 conference, that took place 23rd – 24th November, and attracted venture capitalists, angel investors, investment fund managers, tech buyers, entrepreneurs, innovation supporters & media from various parts of the world, and was supported by the [email protected] Partners, City of Ekurhuleni, the Provincial Government of Gauteng and a host of other partners including Microsoft, Google, The African Business Angels Network and African Technology Foundation among others.

SOS Santé was founded in 2016 by Khalid Machchate and his CTO Farsal Wissal, both engineers with backgrounds in Software, Mobile and Embedded Systems. Khalid is a serial entrepreneur with 3 companies under his belt, all disruptive tech based, Farsal is a PhD candidate in Machine Learning and AI.
